Scheduling Recurring Builds

You can schedule builds of the aggregate tables for individual cubes to run at specific times on specific days of the week. The schedules repeat every week until you delete them.

You might want to schedule recurring builds if you don't want to start builds manually, via a REST API, or by placing a file in a location that is monitored by the AtScale engine.

Before you begin

  • Your user should have the Login, View Aggregates, and Publish Projects permissions. For more information, see Creating and Editing Roles.
  • If you are running an AtScale cluster, be aware that schedules are stored on one node only and are not replicated to other nodes.

Procedure

  1. On the top of the Design Center, choose Projects.
  2. On the left, choose the project for which you want to schedule aggregate builds.
  3. In the Published section on the left, expand the project and choose the published cube for which you want to create a schedule.
  4. Choose Build on the top, then choose the Edit Schedules link.
  5. Create one or more recurring build schedules for the cube from the Schedule Recurring Aggregate Builds pop-up dialog. There are two types of build you can choose from, Standard and Full.

Results

After you close the dialog, the Build Scheduled window for the cube displays the number of recurring build schedules that you created. For example, if you created two schedules for standard builds and two for full builds, the text in the column reads "2 Full, 2 Standard".

What to do next

After the first of the schedules that you created for a cube has started, you can verify that the builds are running as scheduled by viewing the Build History page. For details, see Monitoring Aggregate Usage.
