Connecting with ChatGPT

You can connect to ChatGPT with the AtScale MCP Server.

Prerequisites

  • The AtScale MCP server must be enabled for your AtScale instance.
  • You must have the admin or application_admin role assigned in the Identity Broker.
  • Your AtScale instance must be available to open ports.

Create a connector

First, an administrator must create a connector for the AtScale MCP Server. To create a connector:

  1. Obtain the atscale-mcp client's credentials:

    1. In Design Center, in the left-side navigation, click Security. The Identity Broker opens.

    2. In the left-side navigation, click Clients.

    3. Click the atscale-mcp client.

    4. Go to the Credentials tab and copy the Client Secret.

      Important

Do not regenerate the Client Secret.

  2. Log in to ChatGPT.

  3. In the bottom left of the screen, click your username and select Settings.

  4. In the settings dialog, click Apps & Connectors.

  5. In the top-right corner, click Create.

  6. Complete the following fields:

    • Name: Enter a name for your connector.
    • MCP Server URL: Enter the URL for the AtScale MCP Server. This should be the URL for your AtScale instance, with /mcp added to the end. For example: https://atscale.example.com/mcp
    • Authorization: Leave OAuth selected.
    • OAuth Client ID: Enter the name of the client. This should be atscale-mcp.
    • OAuth Client Secret: Enter the atscale-mcp client secret you copied above.
  7. Select the I understand and want to continue checkbox.

  8. Click Create.

  9. If you are not currently logged in to AtScale, you are redirected to your instance. Enter your login credentials when prompted.

Publish the connector for other users

If you want other users in your workspace to be able to access the connector, you must publish it.

To publish the connector:

  1. In ChatGPT, go to Settings > Apps & Connectors and open your AtScale connector.
  2. Click the context menu next to the Disconnect button and select Publish.
  3. Review and accept all potential risks, then click Publish.

Add the connector to a chat

Once the connector has been published, other users can begin using it in chats.

To add the connector to a chat:

  1. In ChatGPT, open a new chat.
  2. Click the + button, then select More.
  3. Select the AtScale connector.

You can now begin querying your AtScale models through ChatGPT.
