Modeling Cube Dimensions

The dimensions of a cube are logical objects that provide additional metadata on top of the datasets they are based on. This section explains how to add and edit dimensions, and enrich dimensional data by defining hierarchies, levels, and relationships.

  • About Cube Dimensions A dimension is a logical collection of attributes, which are bound to columns in a source dataset. Dimension attributes are used to group and filter the measure data at query time.
  • Add Dimensions to Projects and Cubes This section explains how to add the different kinds of dimensions to an AtScale project, and model the relationships needed to include them in a cube. The process is slightly different depending on the type of dimension you are modeling.
  • Edit Dimensions in a Cube When you first add a dimension to a cube, the dimension consists of an initial hierarchy and key level attribute. You can then add additional levels, hierarchies, secondary attributes, and relationships to other dimensions.
