Removing Datasets from Cubes

Removing a dataset from the canvas takes it out of the cube definition, but the dataset will remain in the project library. Any measures or relationships modeled on columns of the dataset will be removed from the cube definition as well.

About this task

You cannot remove a dataset from a dimension canvas if there are existing levels or secondary attributes that depend on columns of the dataset.

You also cannot remove the primary dataset from a dimension canvas.

Procedure

  1. Open the canvas that has the dataset you want to remove from the cube.

  2. Click the menu icon in the dataset header. That icon looks like this:

  3. Click Remove This Dataset to remove the dataset from the cube.

Warning: Any measures or relationships that depend on the dataset will be removed from the cube, as well. However, any calculated columns will remain in the project library.
